Karachi lawyer’s murder takes shocking turn as suspect confesses to revenge killing.

The investigation into the murder of senior lawyer Shamsul Islam in Karachi has taken a dramatic twist after the key suspect, Imran Afridi, confessed to the killing, citing personal revenge as the motive.

According to police, Afridi admitted during interrogation that he killed Shamsul Islam because he believed the lawyer was responsible for the abduction and torture of his father, which allegedly led to his father’s death. The conflict reportedly arose from a financial dispute involving Rs 3.5 million between the deceased lawyer and Afridi’s father.

Afridi further accused Shamsul Islam of launching false legal cases against his family, including terrorism charges, and claimed that even female members of his household were wrongly named in FIRs.

“I killed him because I never received justice,” Afridi stated in his confession. “No one else was involved—this was entirely my act of revenge.”

Police officials confirmed that further investigations are ongoing, using Afridi’s confession and related evidence to ensure a thorough and lawful resolution of the case.

The killing has sparked widespread condemnation from the legal community and civil society, who are demanding a transparent inquiry and justice for the slain lawyer.
