The Chinese leadership has hailed the Pakistan Armed Forces as a symbol of resilience and a key pillar in maintaining peace across South Asia.
This acknowledgment came during separate high-level meetings with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Asim Munir, who was on an official visit to China, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During his stay in Beijing, the COAS engaged in a series of significant meetings with senior Chinese political and military officials, reaffirming the strong strategic partnership between the two nations.
He held talks with China’s Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. These discussions focused on the evolving regional and global geopolitical environment, key connectivity projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the need for joint responses to shared challenges.
Both nations expressed satisfaction with the current depth of bilateral relations and reiterated their commitment to principles of sovereign equality, multilateral collaboration, and enduring regional stability.
On the military front, Field Marshal Munir met with top Chinese defence leaders, including General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), General Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the PLA Army, and Lieutenant General Cai Zhai Jun, Chief of Staff of the PLA Army.
At the PLA Army Headquarters, the COAS was given a guard of honour—reflecting the long-standing camaraderie and mutual respect between the two militaries.
The meetings featured in-depth discussions on defence and security cooperation, with a focus on counterterrorism, joint military training, modernisation, and institutional linkages. Both sides emphasized enhancing operational interoperability and strategic coordination to counter hybrid and transnational threats.
The Chinese military reaffirmed its strong confidence in the bilateral defence partnership and acknowledged Pakistan’s essential role in fostering regional peace.
Field Marshal Munir thanked the Chinese leadership for their unwavering support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to deepening military cooperation in all spheres.
According to ISPR, “The visit reflects the growing strength of politico-military relations between the two brotherly nations and highlights their mutual commitment to advancing regional security through continued high-level engagements.”
