Pakistan and Bangladesh have reached a mutual understanding to enhance cooperation in cricket development, umpire training, and broader areas such as youth empowerment and technological advancement.
Federal Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi held a key meeting with Bangladesh’s Minister for Youth, Sports, Local Government, and Rural Development, Asif Mahmood. The discussion focused on deepening bilateral collaboration in sports—especially cricket—as well as joint initiatives in youth development and innovation.
Both sides agreed to formalise the partnership between the PCB and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) through an official agreement aimed at advancing cricket, with special emphasis on women’s cricket development. Minister Naqvi also invited Bangladeshi umpires to undergo professional training in Pakistan, promoting shared learning in sports officiating.
Beyond cricket, the two leaders explored opportunities for collaboration in youth skill-building and employment. Renewable energy, particularly solar technology innovation, also emerged as a key area of interest.
Minister Naqvi briefed the Bangladeshi delegation on Pakistan’s advanced secure identity documentation system managed by NADRA. A high-level delegation from Bangladesh is expected to visit Pakistan soon to study NADRA’s systems firsthand.
Highlighting the importance of youth as a driving force in both nations, Minister Naqvi emphasized sports as a unifying platform for regional cooperation and development.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries, including Mahbub Alam (Secretary, Bangladesh Ministry of Youth and Sports), Raza Maqsood (Secretary, Local Government), Pakistan High Commission’s Head of Mission Muhammad Wasif, Pakistan cricket team head coach Mike Hesson, team manager Naveed Akram Cheema, and other dignitaries.
This high-level engagement signals a new chapter in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, with expanded cooperation across sports, education, youth development, and renewable energy.
