Mitchell marsh ruled out of ICC champions trophy due to back injury.

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the UAE due to a worsening back issue that plagued him during the home summer.

Marsh, who was dropped from Australia’s Test squad before the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, has not played since making a single Big Bash League (BBL) appearance for Perth Scorchers earlier this month.

Cricket Australia dismissed reports suggesting the 33-year-old has stress fractures but admitted that his rehabilitation efforts have aggravated the problem.

“Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy with ongoing lower back pain and dysfunction,” CA stated. They confirmed that the National Selection Panel made the decision to prioritize Marsh’s long-term recovery.

Marsh will now undergo an extended period of rest and rehabilitation, with a replacement to be named before the final squad submission deadline on February 12.
