The National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore has been a cornerstone for the development and skill enhancement of both men’s and women’s cricketers in Pakistan for the last 20 years. In 2024, numerous players have benefitted from the world-class facilities provided by the NCA.
One of the notable services offered by the NCA is its successful injury rehabilitation program, which has helped various national and domestic players recover and return to competitive cricket with improved skills and fitness. The PCB’s medical panel has worked closely with NCA coaches to ensure that players overcome injuries and meet rigorous fitness standards.
The rehabilitation process has proven effective, as many of the players who underwent the program have gone on to represent Pakistan and perform well in international cricket. Among the players who benefitted from the rehabilitation and skill enhancement in 2024 are Arshad Iqbal, Diana Baig, Ihsanullah, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Noman Ali, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Sufyan Moqim, and Tayyab Tahir.
Additionally, players such as Abu Bakar, Ahmed Hussain, Ather Mahmood, Hunain Shah, Mohammad Zeeshan, and Zeeshan Zameer have also been part of the rehabilitation programs at the NCA.
Shahid Anwar, Head Coach of the National Cricket Academy, expressed his pride in the NCA’s efforts in 2024. He stated, “I am delighted to share that at the NCA in 2024, apart from other day-to-day assignments, we have been working with a host of talented players to help them fight out the injuries and undergo thorough rehab work combined with quality skill enhancement to get back to their best.”
Anwar emphasized the importance of teamwork between the medical panel and coaches to formulate personalized rehabilitation plans for injured players. He praised the coaches, medical staff, and support team for their dedication to ensuring players return to peak form and continue their careers successfully.
