A Rawalpindi accountability court has dismissed the bail pleas of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana-II case. Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand presided over the hearing at Adiala Jail, with both Khan and Bushra Bibi in attendance.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prosecutor, Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi, argued that Imran Khan had received a valuable jewelry set worth Rs 70 million from Saudi Arabia but only paid Rs 2.9 million to retain it, without depositing it in the official Toshakhana repository. The prosecution urged the court to reject their bail, claiming the case was proven against the couple.
Defense lawyer Salman Safdar contended that the Toshakhana-II case mirrored an earlier reference, with the same allegations and accused, and requested bail for his clients. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved and later announced its decision to reject the bail applications.
This comes after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed another Toshakhana reference against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on August 20.
