Lahore cigh court Issues notice to FIA director general in azma bukhari video case.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued a notice to the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday, in response to a petition filed by Punjab’s Information Minister Azma Bukhari regarding an alleged video.

LHC Chief Justice Alia Neelum presided over the hearing. She noted that the petitioner’s request could have been addressed sooner if the attached pictures had been removed. However, after addressing an objection from the registrar’s office, Justice Neelum scheduled the case for a hearing on Thursday.

Azma Bukhari’s petition named the Federal Government, FIA, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media activist Falak Javed Khan as respondents. Bukhari requested the court to take legal action against Khan and others for distributing a purportedly fake video on social media platform X, which she claimed had been widely shared.

Speaking to the media outside the court, Bukhari expressed frustration at having to seek justice through the courts while the alleged perpetrators remained unaccountable. She mentioned that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had called on FIA authorities to take action and awaited their response.

Regarding the identity of those behind the controversy, Bukhari stated that it was no longer her responsibility to identify them. She emphasized that it was now up to the institutions and the FIA to determine those involved.
