Multan Sultans’ Spin Maestro Osama Mir Outshines Lahore Qalandars with Record-breaking Performance

In the 14th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Multan Sultans delivered a stunning blow to defending champions Lahore Qalandars, securing a convincing victory with a clear margin of 60 runs. Following this defeat, Lahore’s chances of reaching the playoffs have dwindled.

During this match, Multan Sultans’ spinner Osama Mir showcased a brilliant bowling display, turning the tide in his team’s favor. Mir’s exceptional performance saw him claim six wickets for just 40 runs in his four overs, dismantling Lahore Qalandars’ batting lineup and guiding his team to victory.

Mir’s remarkable feat not only secured the win for Multan Sultans but also propelled him to the top of the PSL’s bowling charts, surpassing superstar all-rounder Shahid Afridi. With this achievement, Mir became the best-performing spinner in PSL history in terms of delivering the most outstanding bowling figures in a single innings.

Prior to Mir’s record-breaking performance, the accolade belonged to Shahid Afridi, who, while playing for Peshawar Zalmi in 2018, had taken five wickets for just seven runs against Quetta Gladiators, outclassing their batting lineup.

While Mir now holds the record for the best bowling figures in a single PSL innings by a spinner, the overall record is still held by Ravi Bopara. Bopara, playing for Karachi Kings, had claimed six wickets for 16 runs against Lahore Qalandars, setting a benchmark that remains unmatched.

Alongside Mir, Faheem Ashraf and Omar Gul also contributed significantly to Multan Sultans’ victory, with each claiming six wickets in the tournament, placing them second and third, respectively, in the list of top wicket-takers.

Osama Mir’s exceptional bowling performance not only secured a crucial victory for Multan Sultans but also etched his name in PSL history as one of the most prolific spin bowlers the league has ever seen.
