In Islamabad, the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan Peoples Party are set to hold another meeting this morning regarding government formation.
Following exchanges of final recommendations from both sides on the previous night, PML(N) leader Nazeer Tarar stated that certain decisions regarding the inclusion of PPP in the cabinet have been made, with positive negotiations ongoing between the two parties. The meeting is scheduled to reconvene this morning.
PML(N) leader Ishaq Dar expressed the intention to swiftly conclude negotiations for government formation.
Contrary to speculations, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira clarified that their party is not seeking ministries but will only extend support to the formation of a PML(N) government.
Speaking on a Geo News program with Shahzeb Khanzada, Qamar Zaman Kaira stated that they will nominate Asif Zardari for the presidency, as parties do not nominate candidates against each other when in alliance. The new Prime Minister will be elected by March 2nd, allowing time for pending matters to be resolved.
MQM-Pakistan has assured full cooperation in government formation with both PML(N) and PPP.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori confirmed their support during the challenging phase of government formation, solidifying their commitment.
Additionally, an MQM-Pakistan spokesperson mentioned the party’s request for support from PML(N) regarding three constitutional amendments. Both parties have agreed to continue discussions and meetings on government formation.
