Shahid Afridi advocates single captain policy for all formats in Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan captain and all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, has called for the adoption of a unified captaincy policy by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), emphasizing the appointment of one captain for all formats and eliminating the position of vice-captain. Afridi believes that such a policy would provide clarity and a defined chain of command within the team. This suggestion comes in the wake of Babar Azam’s resignation from captaincy in all three formats after Pakistan’s premature exit from the ODI World Cup. Afridi emphasized the importance of stability, continuity, and longer tenures for captains to enhance team cohesion and performance. He also proposed a designated player to assume leadership in the captain’s absence during matches. Currently, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shan Masood serve as captains in different formats.
