Lahore High Court Rejects PTI Leader’s Plea to Retrieve Party Symbol

The Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Dhaloun seeking the restoration of the party symbol.

PTI leader Omar Dhaloun had approached the Lahore High Court with a plea to reclaim the party symbol, asserting that the decision to withdraw the symbol was unjust. However, Justice Jawad Hassan, presiding over the case, deemed the petition inadmissible after a hearing in the court.

The court’s decision comes in the wake of a recent development where the Peshawar High Court, on the previous day, overturned its own decision regarding the intra-party election and election symbol case involving PTI. The court reinstated the Election Commission’s decision of December 22, which led to the withdrawal of PTI’s party symbol.

Barrister Gohar, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has announced his intention to challenge the Election Commission’s decision in the Supreme Court. The move reflects the party’s commitment to pursuing legal avenues to address concerns regarding the withdrawal of its election symbol.

The legal battles surrounding the party symbol highlight the significance of electoral symbols in the Pakistani political landscape. Political parties often view their symbols as integral to their identity and a crucial factor in electoral campaigns. The Lahore High Court’s rejection of Omar Dhaloun’s plea adds another layer to the ongoing dispute over the PTI symbol.

As political parties gear up for the upcoming elections, these legal disputes contribute to the broader conversation about the transparency and fairness of electoral processes. The decision to seek recourse in higher courts underscores the commitment of political entities to uphold their rights and ensure a level playing field in the democratic arena.
