JUI-F Chief Fazlur Rehman urges election postponement citing security concerns.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Dunya News) – Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has called for the postponement of upcoming elections, citing serious security concerns. In a statement on Monday, he expressed regret over the deteriorating situation in the country, emphasizing that the JUI-F has become a target for terrorists. Fazlur Rehman asserted that fair elections would be challenging under these circumstances and urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to consider their request.

Highlighting the challenges faced by political parties, the JUI-F chief mentioned that candidates from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had also expressed their inability to participate due to adverse weather conditions and concerns about law and order. Fazlur Rehman warned that such conditions could potentially lead to widespread election rigging.

Addressing the issue of political alliances, he stated that the JUI-F is open to seat adjustments wherever necessary. Regarding the rejection of candidatures, Fazlur Rehman noted that it was not only the candidates from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who faced rejections, but members of other parties also encountered challenges with the rejection of their nomination papers.
