Prime Minister Nagraj Addresses Concerns on PTI Founder’s Arrest and Recent Events

In a recent interview, Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the arrest of the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and the subsequent nationwide protests.

Kakar queried why no other political leader was arrested before the founder of PTI, emphasizing the need for an explanation regarding the events that led to widespread demonstrations across the country. He expressed the view that the right to protest is fundamental, and if demonstrations remain peaceful, the government should not intervene. However, he indicated that actions against candidates should be investigated.

Highlighting his own history of supporting PTI in the 2013 and 2018 elections, Kakar acknowledged a time when he defended the party. He underscored that the definition of the state extends beyond the military, asserting that individuals linked to the May 9 incidents have been implicated in FIRs, leading to arrests.

Prime Minister Nagraj stated that he does not believe the entire PTI should be judged solely based on the events of May 9. He emphasized the right of every Pakistani to become a candidate for any political party and cast their vote according to their choice.

Dismissing the idea of viewing the PTI as a whole through the lens of the May 9 events, Kakar asserted that every Pakistani has the right to be a candidate or support any political party. He expressed hope in the PTI government’s ability to improve governance and the economy.

Kakar acknowledged the right to protest, stating that everyone has the right to voice their demands. He mentioned the formation of a cabinet committee and expressed a desire for protesters to continue their demonstrations peacefully, urging them not to block roads.

Addressing a separate issue, he reported the discovery of 15 mutilated bodies on the Coastal Highway, identified through DNA by the Counter-Terrorism Department. Kakar condemned the attack on laborers in a Turbat police station and the killing of Hazara community members.

Prime Minister Nagraj lamented the loss of lives in the Hazara community and highlighted Sarfraz Bangulzai’s surrender with 70 associates. The title for this comprehensive update could be “Prime Minister Nagraj: Questions Arise Over PTI Founder’s Arrest and May 9 Incidents.”
