Former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has officially submitted his nomination papers for the National Assembly seat NA-242 in Karachi. This move marks Shahbaz Sharif’s active participation in the electoral process, representing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the upcoming general elections.
On the other hand, the spokesperson for the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan has indicated that no seat adjustment has been reached between MQM-Pakistan and PML-N for NA-242 in Keamari, Karachi. The MQM-Pakistan spokesperson mentioned that the seat is contested by the MQM’s senior deputy convener, Mustafa Kamal.
It’s noteworthy that in the 2018 elections, Shahbaz Sharif secured the second position in this constituency, while the MQM secured the fourth position. The dynamics of the upcoming elections in NA-242 promise to be interesting, with key political figures vying for support in Karachi, a crucial electoral battleground. The MQM’s decision to field Mustafa Kamal reflects the party’s strategy to assert its presence in the constituency and underscores the competitive nature of the political landscape in Karachi. As the electoral process unfolds, NA-242 will likely witness intense campaigning and political maneuvering in the run-up to the polls.
