British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, accompanied by a delegation, held a meeting with the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, to discuss matters of mutual interest. The delegation, led by the British High Commissioner, engaged in talks with Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence, where they exchanged views on various issues, including the repatriation of Afghan migrants and the education of women in Afghanistan.
According to a statement issued by JUI-F, the British High Commissioner expressed an appeal for collaboration with Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding women’s education in Afghanistan. In response, Maulana Fazlur Rehman advised enhancing international relations with Afghanistan to better resolve issues through mutual understanding and consensus.
During the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized the need to acknowledge and accept the cultural differences between the West and Islam. While expressing support for women’s education, he highlighted that the Afghan government is creating an environment for women’s education, considering Afghanistan’s Islamic and Pashtun background.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that gradual improvements are being observed in the establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan, suggesting that as peace prevails, other issues will also find resolutions. He emphasized that the issues in Afghanistan should be addressed in conjunction with the establishment of peace.
Furthermore, Maulana Fazlur Rehman suggested that those concerned about the education of women and children in Afghanistan should also focus on the plight of women and children in Gaza, where human rights are being violated, and thousands have been martyred through bombings.
He called on the Western world to redirect their attention to the dire situation in Gaza, where thousands of women, children, and civilians have fallen victim to bombings, violating their basic human rights. Maulana Fazlur Rehman urged for a reconsideration of the West’s support for Israel and demanded an end to the widespread killings and human rights abuses in Gaza.
The meeting highlighted the importance of diplomatic discussions to address mutual concerns and collaborate on finding viable solutions, fostering better international relations between the United Kingdom and Pakistan.
