Asus Vivobook 16 Ryzen Edition Launches

Asus Vivobook 16 Ryzen

Asus has launched the Asus Vivobook 16 Ryzen Edition, a new 16-inch productivity laptop featuring AMD’s Ryzen 7 H 260 processor, a 2.5K 144Hz display and a large 70Wh battery. The laptop has been listed in China at 5,999 yuan, equivalent to roughly $894, and is designed primarily for office work, multitasking and everyday productivity.

Slim Metal Design

The Asus Vivobook 16 Ryzen Edition combines a relatively large screen with a slim metal body. The chassis measures just 15.9mm in thickness and weighs 1.69kg, making it more portable than its 16-inch size might suggest.

Asus has also equipped the laptop with a 180-degree hinge and says the device has passed MIL-STD-810H durability testing. These features make it suitable for users who regularly carry their laptop between home, office and other locations.

The full-size backlit keyboard includes a dedicated number pad, while the large 7.1-inch touchpad supports multi-finger gestures. This combination should be useful for office workers and professionals who frequently work with documents, spreadsheets and other productivity applications.

2.5K 144Hz Display

One of the biggest highlights of the Asus Vivobook 16 Ryzen Edition is its 16-inch 2.5K display. The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, providing smoother scrolling, animations and general system interaction than a conventional 60Hz screen.

The display also covers 100% of the sRGB colour gamut and reaches up to 400 nits of brightness. This makes the screen suitable not only for office work but also for photo editing, content consumption and other colour-sensitive tasks.

Asus has included variable refresh-rate technology that can lower the refresh rate to 30Hz when displaying static content. The aim is to reduce unnecessary power consumption during activities such as reading documents or browsing webpages.

There is also a dedicated black-and-white e-book mode that adjusts the display’s grayscale colour temperature for users who spend long periods reading.

Ryzen 7 H 260 Performance

At the heart of the Asus Vivobook 16 Ryzen Edition is AMD’s Ryzen 7 H 260 processor. The chip features eight CPU cores and 16 threads and is based on AMD’s Zen 4 architecture using a 4nm manufacturing process.

The processor can reach a maximum boost clock of 5.1GHz and supports performance configurations of up to 45W. This gives the laptop enough processing capability for common productivity workloads, multitasking and other demanding everyday applications.

Graphics are handled by the integrated Radeon 780M GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture. The integrated graphics solution also supports hardware AV1 encoding, adding useful capabilities for media-related workloads.

The system includes Ryzen AI hardware, with Asus reporting up to 38 TOPS of combined AI performance across the processor, graphics and NPU.

Storage and Connectivity

The base configuration comes with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 512GB PCIe SSD. One particularly useful feature is the inclusion of two M.2 SSD slots, allowing storage to be expanded to as much as 4TB when using two 2TB drives.

Connectivity is also well covered. The Asus Vivobook 16 Ryzen Edition has two full-function USB-C 3.2 ports with display output and Power Delivery support, along with two USB-A 3.2 ports. It also includes an HDMI 2.1 TMDS port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The laptop features an HD infrared camera that supports Windows Hello facial recognition and Windows Studio Effects, including automatic framing and background blur.

70Wh Battery and Price

Powering the laptop is a 70Wh battery. Asus also supports USB-C charging across 5V to 20V, allowing the laptop to be charged using compatible external power sources and power banks.

The Asus Vivobook 16 Ryzen Edition is currently listed in China for 5,999 yuan, with reports putting the price at approximately $894. International availability and pricing have not been confirmed, so buyers outside China will need to wait for official market announcements.

The new Vivobook 16 combines a powerful Zen 4 processor, a high-resolution 144Hz display, expandable SSD storage and a relatively portable metal design. Its focus on productivity rather than dedicated gaming makes it particularly suited to students, professionals and users looking for a large-screen everyday laptop.
