Pakistan Foils Terrorist Attack on Air Force Training Base in Mianwali

The Pakistan Armed Forces have thwarted a terrorist attack on the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) training airbase in Mianwali. In a swift and courageous operation, all nine terrorists involved in the attack were neutralized. The audacious attack had resulted in damage to three grounded aircraft and a fuel bowser, but functional operational assets remained unscathed. The successful counter-operation underscores the determination of Pakistan’s military to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

The attempted assault on the PAF training airbase took place early in the morning, carried out by a group of militants associated with a new faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), known as Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP). The incident sent shockwaves through the nation, prompting immediate condemnation from the highest echelons of Pakistan’s leadership.

President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, expressed his unequivocal condemnation of the attack in Gwadar, where he was attending an event. He offered heartfelt condolences to the security forces for their brave efforts and paid his respects to the martyrs who had made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. He underscored the nation’s resolve to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan.

In a subsequent statement, President Alvi lamented the substantial material losses incurred in the Gwadar attack, which had targeted a Pakistan Navy convoy. He expressed deep sympathy with the bereaved families and called for prayers for the martyrs. The President also reiterated the government’s commitment to pursuing an aggressive strategy against terrorism.

The attack on the Mianwali training airbase, however, was a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by terrorists and their relentless efforts to undermine Pakistan’s security. The terrorists involved in the attack were on a mission to inflict substantial damage, and the quick response by Pakistan’s security forces prevented a disaster.

The Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, praised the efforts of the armed forces, particularly the young officers and soldiers involved in the counter-operation. He emphasized the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to combat terrorism and ensure the safety and security of the nation.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, strongly denounced the attack on the airbase, calling it a cowardly act of terrorism. He highlighted the sacrifices of Pakistan’s security forces and commended their resilience in the face of adversity. He assured the nation that the government was resolute in its pursuit of eliminating all forms of terrorism from the country.

Former Prime Minister and President of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), Shahbaz Sharif, and Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, along with leaders of various political and religious groups, also issued statements condemning the attack on the Mianwali training airbase. They lauded the security forces for their efforts in thwarting the terrorist plot.

The attack serves as a stark reminder of the ever-present terrorist threat in Pakistan. It underscores the need for continued vigilance, strong security measures, and unwavering determination to eradicate terrorism. Pakistan’s armed forces have once again demonstrated their courage and resilience in the face of adversity. The nation stands united against the forces of terror, and the successful operation in Mianwali is a testament to the unwavering resolve to secure the country and protect its citizens. Pakistan remains committed to its mission to root out terrorism and maintain peace and stability in the region.
