The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court has granted permission to the police to conduct a search of the jail cell of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Khadija Shah. This decision came during the hearing on May 9, in the case related to the protests and clashes that occurred on that date.
During the hearing, the police requested permission from the court to search Khadija Shah’s jail cell, and the court granted the request.
Khadija Shah, along with several others, was arrested in connection with the Jinnah House (Jinnah Hall) protest and clashes. It is worth noting that bail had already been granted to Khadija Shah in the case related to the protest and violence at Military Tower and Jinnah House.
In a related development, on October 19, the Lahore High Court approved bail for Khadija Shah in two cases. The judgment stated that Khadija Shah had posted a controversial tweet, which she later deleted and sought forgiveness. The court emphasized the principle of forgiveness, stating that a state should be as merciful as a mother, and giving a chance to the citizen to repent.
Khadija Shah was arrested in connection with the Jinnah House incident and the subsequent protests and violence. She is currently held in Kot Lakhpat Jail. These legal proceedings and the court’s decisions shed light on the complexities surrounding her case, as well as the broader issues related to protests and freedom of expression in Pakistan.
