A tragic incident unfolded in Karachi as a deadly fire engulfed a cotton godown in the SITE area, resulting in the loss of a laborer’s life and leaving two others injured, as reported by ARY News on Tuesday.
Local authorities swiftly responded to the blaze, and firefighters worked diligently to douse the flames at the cotton godown. The subsequent cooling process was initiated to ensure the complete extinguishing of any residual embers.
While the fire incident did not result in significant financial losses, it brought a somber loss of life and inflicted injuries upon two individuals, including laborers who were present at the scene.
According to the police officials, a detailed report will be compiled by the firefighting team after the conclusion of the cooling process. This report will aim to determine the presence and functionality of a firefighting system within the godown, shedding light on safety measures and preparedness.
It is worth noting that this incident echoes a tragic event from April when a factory fire in Karachi led to the collapse of a building, claiming the lives of four valiant firefighters. Several others were injured during the operation. The deceased firefighters were identified as Mohsin, Afzal, Muhammad Sohail, and Khalid. These brave individuals were actively engaged in the cooling process as part of their rescue and firefighting duties when the structure gave way, marking a solemn day in the line of duty.
