Slot backs Liverpool’s long-term rise

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is confident the Reds will continue to improve in the coming seasons as their heavy investment in young talent begins to pay off.

Optimism was high at the start of the campaign after Liverpool spent nearly £450 million ($605 million) on new signings in a bid to defend their Premier League title. The Reds also boosted their European prospects with a commanding 3-0 victory over Marseille on Wednesday, putting them firmly on course for the Champions League last 16.

Despite the challenges, Slot does not expect major reinforcements before the January transfer window closes. “That’s what I expect,” he said. “Unless there’s a clear opportunity to strengthen, I think the squad will remain largely the same.”
