ADELAIDE (Web Desk) – Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Tim David are expected to be included in Australia’s provisional T20 World Cup squad despite injury concerns. Cummins will have a back scan in four weeks before a final decision is made.
David, who injured his right hamstring on Boxing Day, will miss the rest of the BBL but is likely to recover in time for the World Cup in early February.
Cummins has played only one match since a back injury in July. He returned for the Adelaide Test against England but was withdrawn to avoid further risk.
Coach Andrew McDonald said Cummins will be named in the 15-man squad due by January 2, with his availability decided later. Hazlewood is expected to be fit after missing the Ashes due to injuries.
Australia’s World Cup starts on February 11 against Ireland, then Zimbabwe, with Sri Lanka on February 16 if David needs extra recovery time.
The squad could change based on BBL performances or injuries. Australia will play three T20Is in Pakistan in late January as preparation.
