Kate Walsh to return as Dr. Addison Montgomery in Grey’s Anatomy season 22

American actress and entrepreneur Kate Walsh is set to reprise her iconic role as Dr. Addison Montgomery in Grey’s Anatomy Season 22. According to Variety, Walsh will appear in the January 29 episode titled “Strip That Down.” Plot details surrounding her return remain under wraps.

This marks Walsh’s first appearance on the long-running ABC medical drama since her recurring role in Seasons 18 and 19, with her last episode being Season 19’s “Gunpowder and Lead.”

Walsh originally joined Grey’s Anatomy in its first season before becoming a series regular in Season 3. Her character later led the successful spinoff Private Practice, which ran for six seasons from 2007 to 2013. Over the years, Walsh made several guest appearances on Grey’s Anatomy up to Season 8.

Beyond Grey’s Anatomy, Walsh has built an impressive television portfolio, starring in series such as 13 Reasons Why, Emily in Paris, and The Umbrella Academy for Netflix.

She is also set to appear in Steven Pink’s upcoming comedy film What the Fk Is My Password?**, alongside Alexander Ludwig, Stephen Dorff, Kal Penn, and Adam Pally. Earlier in 2024, Walsh performed in The Public Theatre’s world-premiere production of Jordans.

Walsh is represented by Gersh, Untitled, and Yorn Levine Barnes.

Season 22 of Grey’s Anatomy premieres October 9, continuing its run as one of ABC’s flagship dramas alongside High Potential, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville, Abbott Elementary, and Shifting Gears.
