KARACHI: With the onset of winter, dengue cases across Sindh have risen sharply, with over 100 new patients reported in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General Health Sindh (DGHS).
Daily Case Update
The latest DGHS report states that during the last 24 hours:
- 81 dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals
- 59 patients were admitted to private hospitals
- Total admissions: 128
A total of 5,893 dengue tests were conducted across Sindh, out of which 695 samples tested positive.
District-Wise Breakdown
- Karachi recorded
- 31 new hospital admissions
- 194 positive lab results
- Hyderabad reported
- 24 new hospital admissions
- 301 positive test results — the highest in the province
- Other districts of Sindh documented 34 new cases.
Recoveries
According to the report:
- 95 patients admitted to government hospitals were discharged after recovery
- 68 patients recovered from private facilities
- No dengue-related deaths were reported in this set of data
Three Deaths Reported Separately
In an update issued earlier, the DG Health Sindh spokesperson confirmed that three dengue patients lost their lives on Saturday:
- 1 death in Karachi
- 2 deaths in Hyderabad
In addition, the spokesperson reported:
- 113 new dengue admissions in Karachi’s government hospitals
- 57 admissions in private hospitals
- 44 patients currently under treatment in government hospitals
- 35 new cases in Hyderabad
- 34 cases in other Sindh districts
Public Advisory
The DGHS has urged citizens to:
- Maintain cleanliness indoors and outdoors
- Eliminate standing water from homes, rooftops, and streets
- Use mosquito repellent, wear long sleeves, and keep windows screened
- Seek immediate medical care if experiencing symptoms such as fever, headache, body pain, or nausea
Authorities continue larval control operations and fumigation drives across affected areas.
