Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed her government’s commitment to eliminating drug trafficking across the province, declaring that there is no room for drug dealers in Punjab and that the region will soon be free of narcotics.
The official inauguration ceremony of the Punjab Counter-Narcotics Force took place in Lahore, with CM Maryam Nawaz attending as the chief guest. During the event, she formally presented the force’s flag to an officer and reviewed the parade.
In her address, the chief minister lauded the swift formation of the Counter-Narcotics Force, calling it a significant achievement. She announced a strict zero-tolerance policy against those involved in the drug trade, particularly within educational institutions.
“Eradicating drugs is critical to securing the future of our youth,” she emphasized. “Drug dealers will find no refuge in Punjab. We will no longer tolerate compromises on these long-standing issues.”
Maryam Nawaz further stated that comprehensive efforts are underway to activate the Counter-Narcotics Force in every division of the province. She also highlighted the recent establishment of a Crimes Control Department within the police, which has contributed to a noticeable drop in criminal activity.
“Criminals are now repenting publicly, holding the Quran in hand,” she remarked, adding that an Anti-Encroachment Force will soon be launched as part of broader law enforcement reforms.
