Australian Test cricketer Usman Khawaja has once again raised his voice for Palestine, sharing a powerful video on social media that shows injured children in Gaza, and condemning the ongoing violence against civilians.
A committed advocate for humanitarian causes, Khawaja highlighted the trauma endured by Palestinian children, aligning with UNICEF’s grim portrayal of Gaza as “a graveyard for children.”
In his emotional post, he wrote: “Hard to watch… Imagine living it,” expressing horror over the unrelenting killings, starvation, and assaults on aid distribution points.
Khawaja urged the global community not to become desensitised, saying:
“If this ever feels normal, we’ve lost our way. Always stand for humanity, equality, and a better future.”
This message follows his earlier reaction to the deaths of over 130 Palestinian children in a single day, where he criticised the global silence, writing:
“These kids have names and families, just like you.”
Born in Pakistan and a practicing Muslim, Khawaja has consistently used his platform to speak out for justice. During Australia’s 2023 Test series, he attempted a silent protest with pro-Palestinian messages on his shoes. The International Cricket Council (ICC) blocked the gesture, leading Khawaja to wear a black armband instead.
He also criticised the ICC’s inconsistency, noting that while his peaceful protest was restricted, other players have worn religious symbols on their gear without facing consequences—actions technically against ICC regulations.
Through his continued advocacy, Khawaja remains a powerful voice urging the world not to normalise the ongoing atrocities in Gaza, and to stand firmly for human dignity and justice.
