Ishaq Dar urges India to reconsider regional stance, slams Israeli actions in Gaza

deputy prime minister ishaq dar on monday urged india to reassess its approach toward pakistan and the broader region, warning that new delhi cannot impose its will through unilateral decisions or aggressive behavior.

while speaking at an event marking the foundation day of the institute of strategic studies in islamabad, dar said india’s repeated attempts to stir regional tensions — including false flag operations and provocations along the border — were being met with firm and measured responses from pakistan.

“india imposed aggression on pakistan under the cover of a false flag operation, and we responded swiftly and effectively,” dar stated, referring to the recent pahalgam incident, which he dismissed as a “false drama.”

he also warned india against weaponising water resources, stressing that the indus waters treaty cannot be suspended unilaterally. “pakistan is committed to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. india must rethink its policies once and for all,” he added.

dar reaffirmed pakistan’s position on the kashmir dispute, calling it an internationally acknowledged issue. “a peaceful resolution of the kashmir issue is essential for lasting peace in the region,” he emphasized.

he accused india of openly violating international law, while reiterating pakistan’s dedication to the principle of peaceful coexistence.

condemns israeli actions in gaza

shifting focus to the middle east, dar expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis in gaza, denouncing israel’s actions as “barbaric.”

“there is no precedent in history for such brutality. the world must not stay silent,” he declared.

he emphasized that lasting peace in the region is impossible without justice for palestinians and called on the global community to take concrete steps to end israeli aggression.

addressing the recent tensions between israel and iran, dar welcomed the ceasefire and reaffirmed pakistan’s support for iran’s right to self-defence.

“pakistan has always backed iran’s legal position and continues to support dialogue on the iranian nuclear issue,” he noted.

he also praised pakistan’s strong ties with china, describing the bilateral relationship as a “time-tested friendship” and noting that their strategic partnership is growing stronger in the current global context.

Dar concluded by observing that the world is shifting from a unipolar to a multipolar order, and said Pakistan is playing a “balanced and independent role” amid these geopolitical changes.
