Pakistan’s new-look T20I squad, captained by all-rounder Salman Agha, delivered a commanding 3-0 series sweep over Bangladesh, showcasing the depth of emerging talent in the national side.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had rested several senior players — including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi — to provide opportunities for younger cricketers. The decision paid off handsomely.
Opener Sahibzada Farhan, middle-order batter Hasan Nawaz, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris stood out as the key performers, each playing pivotal roles in securing victories for the home team.
Former cricketer Kamran Akmal, speaking on ARY News’ Sports Room, praised the fearless brand of cricket displayed by the youngsters.
“They played with clarity and adapted to the demands of modern T20 cricket. Pakistan had been lacking intent in recent times, but these players changed that with their aggressive and confident approach,” he said.
Akmal also stressed the importance of backing young talent through consistent opportunities.
“We have time before the T20 World Cup to build this team. These players need more exposure to develop and gain confidence,” he added.
He suggested that while young players should be given regular chances, senior stars could return for high-profile matches against top-tier teams.
Kamran Akmal also applauded Salman Agha’s captaincy, particularly his bold decision to bowl first in the third T20I — a move that led to a successful 197-run chase.
“Pakistan chased it with calm and composure. That in itself is a significant achievement,” he remarked.
