Hot and dry weather to persist nationwide; southern Pakistan braces for intense heat.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that most parts of the country will experience mainly hot and dry weather over the next 24 hours, with extremely high temperatures expected in southern regions.

Isolated areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir may see partly cloudy skies with chances of light rain and thunderstorms, the Met Office added.

In Islamabad, conditions will remain hot and dry throughout the day, becoming partly cloudy by evening or night.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while hot and dry conditions will dominate, light rain and thunderstorms are expected in upper areas such as Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Kurram, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Khyber, and Waziristan during the evening or night.

Punjab will largely experience dry heat, with the Pothohar region likely to see partly cloudy skies later in the day. Daytime temperatures in southern Punjab are forecasted to be 3 to 5°C above normal.

Sindh is expected to remain under the grip of very hot and dry conditions, with temperatures climbing 4 to 6°C above the seasonal average. In Balochistan, hot and dry weather is also forecast, along with gusty winds across most districts.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir can expect partly cloudy weather with chances of isolated light rain and thunderstorms.

Over the past 24 hours, most parts of the country recorded hot and dry weather, with southern areas facing extreme heat. Light rain and thunderstorms were reported in some parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Sibbi was the hottest location in the country on Thursday, with temperatures soaring to 46°C.
