Poland’s largest game developer, CD Projekt, reported a 2.3% drop in full-year net profit for 2024, with net earnings reaching 469.9 million zlotys ($122 million). Despite the decline, the results surpassed the 390 million zlotys forecasted by analysts in a Reuters poll.
The company’s revenue fell nearly 20% to 985 million zlotys, largely due to the absence of any major game releases. However, the expansion of its flagship title “Cyberpunk 2077” in September 2023 significantly bolstered results. The game, along with its “Phantom Liberty” expansion, generated nearly 600 million zlotys in earnings, according to finance chief Piotr Nielubowicz.
Joint CEO Michal Nowakowski highlighted plans to expand the game’s universe. A macOS version of “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition” is set to launch this year, introducing the title to a broader audience. Additionally, CD Projekt announced the development of a new Cyberpunk-themed animation project for Netflix, continuing to expand the franchise’s reach.
With cumulative sales of “Cyberpunk 2077” surpassing 30 million copies and the “Phantom Liberty” expansion reaching over 8 million copies, CD Projekt remains optimistic. However, the company is preparing for a period of lower revenue, relying primarily on continued sales of existing titles.
