Former actress Noor Bukhari has come under scrutiny after receiving a notice from the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) for distributing food to the poor outside her residence. The move has sparked a debate, with some supporting the decision while others criticized it.
DHA’s notice, which Noor shared on her Instagram Story, stated that the food distribution was causing inconvenience to neighbors, prompting complaints. The administration warned that if she continued, further action would be taken under society regulations.
Noor reacted strongly to the notice, criticizing her neighbors for opposing an act of charity. Sarcastically, she wrote: “What great neighbors I have — feeling at peace after stopping food for the poor. I will arrange to distribute it elsewhere, but what have you gained, neighbor?”
Social media responses were divided. Some defended Noor, questioning why a charitable act should be seen as a disturbance. Others pointed out that large gatherings outside private homes could create traffic congestion, noise, and sanitation issues.
“Charity is a great virtue, but why should it come at the cost of neighbors’ convenience?” one user commented. Another suggested alternative ways to help, saying, “Food distribution should be done in an organized manner to avoid chaos and ensure neighbors aren’t disturbed.”
Noor Bukhari, once a prominent figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, left showbiz in 2017. While she has vowed to continue her charitable work elsewhere, the incident has ignited a broader discussion on balancing social welfare with community regulations.
