Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has claimed that scheduled flights to repatriate Venezuelan migrants from the U.S. have been affected due to a “tremendous commotion” following Washington’s decision to revoke a key license for Chevron in Venezuela.
Maduro linked the disruption to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent move to cancel Chevron’s license, citing insufficient progress on electoral reforms and migrant returns. While he did not explicitly name the company in reference to the affected flights, he stated that communication between Venezuela and the U.S. had been damaged.
The Venezuelan government has consistently denounced U.S. sanctions, calling them illegitimate and an “economic war” aimed at crippling the country. Despite this, Maduro and his allies claim Venezuela has shown resilience, though they have also attributed economic difficulties to these restrictions.
