The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH) has confirmed a new polio case from District Thatta, Sindh. This marks the fourth case in Sindh and the sixth in Pakistan this year.
Polio Cases in 2024
Last year, Pakistan reported 74 polio cases, with:

📍 23 cases in Sindh
📍 22 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
📍 1 case each in Punjab & Islamabad
Polio Vaccination Efforts
💉 Nationwide Polio Campaign (2025): Over 45 million children vaccinated.
💉 fIPV-OPV Campaign (Feb 2025): 0.9 million children vaccinated in Quetta & Karachi for added immunity.
💉 Targeted Border Vaccination: 0.6 million children in 104 Afghan-bordering union councils vaccinated to prevent cross-border transmission.
