A tragic collision between a truck and a bus on a southern Bolivian highway early Monday resulted in at least 31 deaths and 22 injuries, police confirmed. The impact forced the bus off the road, plunging approximately 500 meters (1,640 feet) down a ravine.
Police spokesperson Limbert Choque reported that the victims included both men and women. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, while authorities launched an investigation into the accident. The truck driver has been arrested.
Bolivian President Luis Arce expressed his condolences, calling for a thorough investigation to determine responsibility. The incident follows another deadly crash in the same region just days earlier, where two buses collided, killing more than three dozen people.
