The meetings of zonal and district moon sighting committees to determine the crescent for the Islamic month of Rajab 1446 AH will take place across Pakistan on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, after the Asr prayer.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, will oversee the proceedings of the zonal committee meeting at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Islamabad. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4:45 PM, and its outcomes will confirm the start of the new Islamic month.
The month of Rajab holds special significance for Muslims, as the 27th of Rajab marks Shab-e-Meraj, the night when the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ascended through the seven heavens to meet Allah Almighty, riding the celestial steed, Al-Buraq.
On this night, Muslims gather in mosques in large numbers after Isha prayers to offer special prayers and engage in worship that lasts until Fajr.
