Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) Chairman Sajjad Mustafa has assured that the ongoing internet connectivity and speed issues will likely be resolved within three months. Speaking in a televised interview, Mustafa addressed concerns about disruptions and highlighted ongoing efforts to stabilize the network.
Firewall and Monitoring Mechanism
- Mustafa explained that monitoring of internet usage, particularly for media sharing on platforms like WhatsApp, might be contributing to the current connectivity problems.
- Defending the installation of a Firewall, he emphasized that such surveillance measures are standard globally, though the mechanisms vary.
- He pointed out that in countries like the USA, illegal content sharing prompts swift action, with security officers often responding within minutes.
Internet Access for IT Workers
- Mustafa clarified that fixed-line internet services remain unaffected, ensuring uninterrupted access for full-time IT professionals.
- Part-time workers relying on non-fixed-line internet are, however, facing connectivity issues.
Reassurance to IT Companies
- Mustafa dismissed rumors of IT companies leaving Pakistan due to internet problems, firmly stating that no company has exited the market for this reason.
The chairman reaffirmed P@SHA’s commitment to addressing these challenges and supporting the growth of the IT sector in Pakistan. This aligns with broader government efforts to address freelancer challenges and promote the digital economy.
