In an initiative spearheaded by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government launched Health Week on Wednesday, setting up health screening camps across the province. The program, inaugurated by Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman at THQ Hospital Samanabad, will run until November 22.
Comprehensive Health Services Across Punjab
Health screening camps have been established at DHQ and THQ hospitals, primary and rural health centers, and jail hospitals throughout Punjab. The initiative aims to provide accessible health check-ups and early detection of diseases.
During their visit, Khawaja Imran Nazir and Zahid Akhtar Zaman reviewed the patient screening process, examining facilities at registration, vital, TB, sugar, pregnancy, and counseling counters. They commended the hospital’s arrangements for the event.
Expanding Access to Diagnostic Kits
The health minister announced that hospitals have been equipped with 600,000 hepatitis B and C testing kits, 600,000 sugar testing kits, and 150,000 kits each for HIV and malaria testing. The data collected during the screening will aid in improving treatment strategies for patients.

Addressing the media, Khawaja Imran Nazir emphasized that promoting a healthy society is a cornerstone of the Chief Minister’s vision for a prosperous Punjab. The minister also highlighted the introduction of full monitoring for the screening process to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
