Woman judicial remand extended in Lahore fake news case.

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has extended the judicial remand of a woman accused of spreading false information about a rape incident at a private college while impersonating the victim’s mother.

The suspect, identified as Sara Khan, was presented in court after her previous remand ended. The court approved a 14-day extension of her judicial remand for further investigation.

In a prior hearing, the court was informed that one mobile phone had been recovered from the suspect, while additional evidence was being sought by police. The investigation officer stated that voice-matching and photogrammetric tests had been conducted to verify the authenticity of the videos shared by the suspect.

Police claim the suspect uploaded fake videos on social media to attract views. She was arrested last month by a Model Town CIA team after a case was registered against her under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
