Islamabad high court orders Adiala jail to facilitate meeting between Imran khan and legal team.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed the superintendent of Adiala Jail on Friday to arrange a meeting between PTI founder Imran Khan and his legal counsel. The court session, led by Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, reviewed a contempt plea alleging failure to facilitate a meeting despite prior court orders.

Appearing before the court were PTI’s legal representative Faisal Farid Chaudhry, Advocate General Ayaz Shaukat, and Adiala Jail Superintendent Abdul Ghafoor Anjum. Faisal Chaudhry argued that a scheduled meeting had been blocked the previous day, reportedly due to road closures around Adiala Jail.

Advocate General Ayaz Shaukat countered, stating the government had responded to the contempt case, indicating compliance with the court’s direction to appoint three coordinators. However, he noted that a list of approved visitors had yet to be provided.

The court questioned why the meeting was delayed and urged clarification on when it would be arranged. Superintendent Anjum explained that high-level security was required due to Imran Khan’s profile. Additionally, the court noted a conflict between jail authorities and PTI coordinators over who would be permitted to meet Khan, requesting a list of approved visitors to resolve this issue.

Justice Khan instructed the superintendent to forward the visitor list to the Islamabad Advocate General and PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja to facilitate the meeting and ensure compliance with the court’s orders.
