It’s not uncommon for actors to encounter their doppelgangers or be compared to the works of others in their field. Fans might notice similarities in their dialogue delivery or even their mannerisms. The latest example of this phenomenon is the ongoing comparison between Pakistani actor Saleem Mairaj and Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
In a recent interview, Mairaj was asked about the frequent comparisons, which have surfaced multiple times on social media. When a viewer brought up the topic again, Mairaj responded with a hint of frustration, saying, “I think I have been asked this more than 200 times. I have to tell you, I just don’t get it. I don’t see the resemblance, and I don’t understand the comparison.”
He shared an anecdote to illustrate the situation, recalling an incident at the passport office. “Once, I was at the passport office, and these two women were in the line near me. They had just watched Bajrangi Bhaijaan. One of them looked at me and said to the other, ‘Look! There’s that man from the film we saw last night!'”
With a sigh, Mairaj noted, “They did not recognize Saleem Mairaj standing right in front of them, but they definitely thought they saw Nawazuddin Siddiqui!” This statement underscores the peculiar nature of such comparisons and highlights Mairaj’s desire for recognition as his own unique talent rather than a mere lookalike of another actor.
