In a surprising development, Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) appears to be facing internal discord, as sources reveal that four to five members of the National Assembly have formed a ‘forward bloc.’ This split is reportedly centered around the contentious 26th constitutional amendment package.
Contrarily, JUI-F central leader Aslam Ghori has denied the existence of any such forward bloc within the party. He emphasized that all members are in communication with the party leadership, stating, “We have eight MNAs and five senators, all of whom are in contact with JUI-F leadership. However, one of our senators, Abdul Shakoor, has not been reachable.”
In earlier remarks, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed concerns over the harassment and intimidation of his party’s MNAs. He highlighted that both JUI-F and Balochistan National Party (BNP) members have faced threats, citing instances of abduction and intimidation among his party ranks.
Fazl criticized the government’s dual approach of negotiating the constitutional amendment package while simultaneously targeting opposition MPs. He warned that if such tactics persist, the party may have to reconsider its engagement in the consultation process regarding the amendment.
