National assembly session delayed to 6 PM, agenda excludes 26th constitutional amendment.

The National Assembly (NA) session scheduled for today (Friday) has been postponed until 6 PM, as announced by the assembly secretariat. The session, initially set to commence at 11 AM under the chairmanship of Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, was delayed in accordance with Rule 49.

The secretariat has released an eight-point agenda for the meeting; however, it notably omits the introduction of the 26th constitutional amendment bill. This is significant as the coalition government, led by the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has been working to secure approval for the amendment since last month.

It’s worth noting that on September 16, the National Assembly was adjourned indefinitely due to the absence of consensus on the 26th amendment, as the government was unable to gather the necessary two-thirds majority.
