Pakistan’s First Multi-Mission Satellite PAKSAT MM1 Successfully Operational
Pakistan’s first multi-mission satellite, PAKSAT MM1, has successfully become operational under the facilitation of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), marking a significant achievement in the country’s space and digital development efforts.
PAKSAT MM1 is set to revolutionize Pakistan’s communication infrastructure by providing essential services such as television broadcasting, mobile phone connectivity, community internet, and tele-education. These advancements will benefit various IT sectors and promote local industries, while also increasing internet accessibility in remote areas, aligning with the government’s vision of a “Digital Pakistan.”
Pakistan has also improved its position in the United Nations E-Governance Development Index, climbing 14 spots to 136th overall, compared to 150th in 2022.
Additionally, on May 3, Pakistan launched its first lunar mission, ICUBE-Q, aboard China’s Chang’E6 from Hainan, China. This historic satellite mission, designed by the Institute of Space Technology (IST) in collaboration with China’s Shanghai University SJTU and SUPARCO, marked Pakistan’s first venture into lunar exploration.
