With the tenure of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) elections now extended to two years from 2022, businessmen Mian Abuzar Shad and Fahimur Rehman Sehgal have emerged as the new leaders, following a historic victory in the elections.
The alliance of Piaf, Progressive, and Pioneer secured a decisive win in the 2024-2026 LCCI elections, claiming all 30 seats in both the corporate and associated classes.
Nomination forms for the presidential position were due to be submitted on September 26, and as of now, only Mian Abuzar Shad has filed his nomination. The election commission is expected to issue a notification regarding the election results soon.
The situation is similar for the senior vice president and vice president positions, with Khalid Usman and Shahid Nazir being the sole candidates to submit their forms for these roles, respectively.
This remarkable victory sets the stage for the next critical decision: selecting a president from the 30 successful candidates to lead the chamber for the upcoming term. It is widely anticipated that Mian Abuzar Shad will serve as president during the first year, while Fahimur Rehman Sehgal is expected to assume the role in the second year.
