Khyber pakhtunkhwa governor calls provincial government a failure, demands vote of confidence from chief minister.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has publicly condemned the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, labeling it a complete failure, and called on Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to seek a vote of confidence.

In a media briefing in Peshawar, Governor Kundi criticized the government’s inability to appoint vice-chancellors for universities, highlighting that the court had dismissed the government’s authority on the issue. He urged the provincial leadership to expedite these appointments to safeguard the future of the youth, noting that 26 universities in the province currently lack vice-chancellors.

Governor Kundi also raised alarms over the potential sale of university land, firmly stating that no such transactions would occur under his watch.

He further expressed concerns about the suspension of assembly sessions on four separate occasions, implying that the chief minister was deliberately avoiding convening sessions due to a likely loss of confidence among assembly members. Kundi emphasized the need for the chief minister to seek a vote of confidence, asserting that Gandapur no longer holds the majority.

On the subject of cabinet reshuffling, the governor mentioned that he had not yet signed the summary for changes, preferring to consult legal experts first. He questioned the rationale behind the frequent cabinet changes, comparing it to a football match, and stressed the need for accountability among corrupt and incompetent ministers. Kundi assured that he would take his time before deciding whether to approve the cabinet reshuffle.
