Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour made a triumphant comeback in London on Thursday night, with Ed Sheeran joining her on stage at Wembley Stadium.
Sheeran appeared during the acoustic segment of the show, performing their collaborations “Everything Has Changed” and “Endgame,” followed by a rendition of his hit “Thinking Out Loud.” The surprise guest delighted the crowd, whose excitement was palpable as they sang, danced, and showed their enthusiasm throughout the performance.
The appearance of Sheeran was a standout moment in Swift’s meticulously crafted stage show, celebrating her career’s milestones.
Recent weeks have been challenging for Swift and her tour. The tragedy of three young fans’ deaths in Southport, England, and the thwarted attack plot in Austria had cast a shadow over the tour. The August shows in Vienna were canceled due to the security threat, making Thursday’s performance a significant return for the Eras Tour.
Swift began the concert with an “Oh hi London” and confessed to a “love system overload” as she greeted the 92,000-strong audience, thanking them for attending despite the increased security measures.
With four more dates scheduled at Wembley Stadium, Swift is set to break records with her solo residency. The European leg of The Eras Tour will continue in Toronto this November.
The tour, renowned for its extensive set list spanning over 40 songs, has become the highest-grossing tour ever, surpassing $1 billion in ticket sales last year. It is projected to exceed $2 billion before concluding in Indianapolis later this year.
