Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry appeared before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday in a contempt case where he expressed his willingness to submit another written apology, underscoring his belief in the importance of apologizing.
The contempt case is against both Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and Chaudhry, with the hearing conducted by a four-member bench led by Nisar Durrani.
During the proceedings, Faisal Chaudhry, the former minister’s brother, represented him, while PTI founder Imran Khan’s counsel was absent due to commitments in another case at the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The ECP bench advised Chaudhry to exercise restraint and avoid being “trigger-happy” in future statements. In response, Chaudhry highlighted that other individuals, including Captain Safdar, had made severe comments about the ECP without facing any inquiries. He also reiterated his stance that reserved seats should be allocated to PTI candidates.
The hearing was subsequently adjourned until September 4.
