Sri Lanka secured a thrilling three-wicket victory over Pakistan in the semi-final of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024, held in Dambulla on Friday.
Chasing a target of 141 runs, Sri Lanka achieved victory with one ball to spare in the 20-over game. Captain Chamari Athapaththu played a stellar innings, scoring 63 runs, while Anushka Sanjeewani contributed an unbeaten 24 runs, guiding their team to the final of the prestigious tournament.
Sri Lanka will now face India in the final match. Earlier in the day, India defeated Bangladesh by ten wickets at Dambulla. Bangladesh, batting first, managed 80 runs for the loss of eight wickets, while India chased down the target without losing any wicket, scoring 83 runs.
Pakistan, after a loss to India, had rebounded with impressive victories over Nepal and the United Arab Emirates, securing their spot in the semi-finals.
