Chennai is set to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) final on May 26, marking its return as the venue for the summit clash after a hiatus of 12 years. The announcement came as the Indian cricket board (BCCI) unveiled the complete schedule of the T20 franchise tournament on Monday.
Initially, the BCCI had only disclosed the schedule for the first two weeks, comprising 21 matches, last month. However, the full schedule has now been unveiled, accommodating the polling dates for the upcoming general elections in the country.
The playoffs will kick off at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, where the first qualifier between the top two ranked teams will take place on May 21, followed by the eliminator between the next two best teams a day later.
Transitioning to Chennai, the home ground of the defending champions Chennai Super Kings, the second qualifier is slated for May 24, leading up to the highly anticipated final on May 26.
In other fixtures, Punjab Kings are scheduled to play in Dharamsala, where they will host matches against Chennai and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, while Rajasthan Royals will conclude their campaign with two matches in Guwahati.
