Pakistan has warmly welcomed the United Nations Security Council’s approval of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, there is a strong demand for the swift implementation of the Security Council’s approved agreement. It is hoped that Israel’s aggressive attacks will cease and a lasting ceasefire can be ensured.
The Foreign Office spokesperson stated that this initiative is expected to aid in addressing the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. Pakistan has repeatedly condemned Israel’s disproportionate use of force in recent months.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan will continue to support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-June 1967 borders.
It is noteworthy that a vote was held by the Security Council on Monday to seek consensus on the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which was subsequently approved.
The ceasefire agreement was presented by ten member countries of the Security Council, including Algeria, Japan, Ecuador, Switzerland, South Korea, Malta, and others.
Out of the fifteen members of the Security Council, fourteen supported the agreement, while the United States did not participate in the voting on the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
