The Hopman Cup, scheduled to take place this year in Nice, has been postponed until 2025 due to its proximity to the Paris Olympics, according to the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The mixed team event enjoyed a successful return last year in Nice, where Croatia emerged victorious by defeating Switzerland in the final.
ITF President David Haggerty stated, “With both the Hopman Cup and Olympic Games due to take place in France this year, hitting pause on the Hopman Cup until 2025 is a sensible decision.” He added that players who had committed to this year’s event have been informed, and the ITF looks forward to hosting them on the Cote d’Azure next year.
The Hopman Cup, initially held in Australia from 1989 to 2019, took a three-year hiatus before resuming in France in 2024. The decision to postpone this year’s edition is aimed at avoiding a scheduling conflict with the Olympic tennis event, which is set to begin on July 27.
